The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ programme has been running in Ireland for 20 years. It is a global programme that is run by EY in over 60 countries, across six continents.

The Irish programme has been identified as one of the strongest worldwide. The programme offers continued support and connects our finalists with an entrepreneurial community of over 440 Alumni (past finalists). Our programme aims to acclaim Ireland’s most successful entrepreneurs via our Irish Times business profiling series, our partnership with Newstalk 106-108fm, as well as our TV series which is broadcast to an all-island audience.

Each year, entrepreneurs throughout Ireland are invited to enter any one of three categories: Emerging, Industry and International. Following interviews and a judging process, 24 entrepreneurs are shortlisted in April every year. The finalists engage in a strategic programme of activities over the next six months including: our international CEO Retreat; executive education sessions; filming for our TV series and culminating with our annual Gala Awards Dinner. An award is presented for each category, and an overall winner is announced as the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™. That person will go on to represent Ireland at the World Entrepreneur Of The Year awards in Monte Carlo each June.

Every year we are genuinely blown away by the sheer number of potential finalists among our nominees and humbled by the inspiring stories they each have to share.

However there can only be 24 finalists. That tough decision is made by our independent panel of judges, each of whom has achieved success in his or her respective field, and each of whom cares deeply about the continued growth of entrepreneurship on our island. The panel is made up of former winners as well as representatives from three of our island’s economic development agencies.
